The vibe

Built by dancers,
for dancers

Salsaotearoa is New Zealand's very own festival dedicated to Salsa - a weekend where dancers from every corner of the country come together to learn, dance, connect, and celebrate Salsa in Aotearoa.

Expect world-class teaching, incredible performance, unforgettable social dancing, and beautiful vibes, with a uniquely Kiwi warmth running through everything we do.

Why come

Workshop circle, learning together
01

Learn
together

Choose your stream, get to know your crew, and grow all weekend with dancers at your level.

02

Kiwi
hospitality

We give our international artists a proper Kiwi welcome, so they dance, eat, and hang out with us all weekend instead of just teaching and flying home. Everyone's part of the whānau.

03

Real
connection

Late-night socials, shared meals, and dancers who'll remember your name by Sunday. Making friends across schools and cities is as much the point as the workshops.

About us

Our
story

This will be the first ever Salsaotearoa: New Zealand Festival of Salsa. A brand new event stepping in for 2027 while the NZ Salsa Congress takes a break.

We saw an opportunity to bring the community together in a fresh way, and we're building this first edition with the same goal that's driven the Congress for years: growing the Salsa community across Aotearoa.

Who's behind it

Meet the directors

Salsaotearoa is organised by six directors and dance teachers from three of New Zealand's leading Salsa schools, all experienced teachers who've spent years being a part of and building the scene we love.
